Dosing

Standard starting dose: 5 mg once daily. Maximum dose: 10 mg once daily. Can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Dose adjustments should be gradual (every 7-14 days) to allow stabilization. Lower starting doses are used in patients with liver disease.

Emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately for: chest pain lasting more than a few minutes or that worsens or changes character, especially with shortness of breath, sweating, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, or back; fainting or loss of consciousness; a very fast, very slow, or irregular heartbeat with dizziness; or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat with trouble breathing. These can be signs of a heart attack, dangerous arrhythmia, or severe allergic reaction and should never wait for a routine call to the office.
